The area of expertise of the Radboudumc Craniofacial Team covers most of cranial malformations, craniosynostosis and encephaloceles as listed above. Its main focus in research and numbers of patients treated, is on craniosynostosis.

Cleft lip/palate anomalies are treated within the twin Cleft team, which constitutes together with the Craniofacial Team and the Orofacial Team (treating genetic deafness, microtia etc) the Amalia Cleft lip and Palate Craniofacial Centre (ACCC).

Within the Craniofacial Team diagnosis, treatment and follow-up is provided by a multidisciplinary team involving: neurosurgery, maxillofacial surgery, plastic surgery, ENT, ophthalmology, pediatrics, intensive care pediatrics, pediatric anesthesiology, orthodontics, genetics, neurology, pediatric fysiotherapy, radiology, 3D stereofotogrammetry lab, psychology, social work, and speech therapy. All team members are involved in developing national guidelines and standards of care in close collaboration with the patients's society LAPOSA. On an international level outcome standards are being developed in ICHOM(craniosynostosis is scheduled for next year).

The Radboudumc Craniofacial Team offers highly specialized treatment of craniosynostosis, including endoscopic assisted techniques which are not yet widely offered throughout Europe. Hans Delye is member of the International Federation of Neuroendoscopy, in which he frequently participates as faculty in hands-on workshopsto teach endoscopic craniosynostosis procedures in different European countries (Italy, Germany).

The Radboudumc Craniofacial Team offers highly specialized follow-up through 30 stereofotogrammetry, eradicating the need for radiation techniques. Again, these methods are not yet widely available in Europe, and .many European centres have expressed their interest in our techniques to evaluate surgical results.

Hans Delye is member of the Young neurosurgeons committee of the European Association of Neurosurgery, as well of the Young Neurosurgeons Forum of the World Federation of Neurosurgical Societies. In both committees Hans Delye takes part in organizing congresses and developping online instructional resources in the field of pediatric neurosurgery and craniosynostosis.

Research is an integrated part of care and this is done in close collaboration with the Radboudumc 30 laboratory, and also with other European craniofacial centers, particularly those from Rotterdam-The Netherlands, Lille-France, Leuven-Belgium and Berlin-Germany.

Our expertise in care, education and research, in combination with unique treatment and follow-up techniques considering craniosynostosis, will contribute to the care for patients with a rare craniofacial disorder.
